Chinese Taipei, TPE

Chinese Taipei is the designated name used by the Republic of China – commonly known as Taiwan – to participate in sporting events. In November 1979, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) adopted a resolution in Nagaoya, JPN, under which the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of China would be recognized as the Chinese Taipei Olympic Committee (CTOC), and its athletes would compete in the Olympic Games under the name Chinese Taipei – country code TPE – flying a flag with the CTOC emblem against a white background.
